A List of the Top Job Search Engines and How to Boost your Job Search Techniques
Everyone knows that the job market is very tight these days and with the economy not improving anytime soon, the outlook for future job growth looks pretty bleak. That being said, there is a silver lining in all of this. For those of you who are unemployed, the good news is that thanks to the internet and the world wide web there is a vast array of resources available today that will make it much easier than ever before to find a job, even in a really crummy job market like we are in today. So because of that, I have decided to put together a list of the top job search engines on the web today that will make your employment search so much easier.
As you go through each web site keep in mind that each site is different. Some sites will return job openings that were posted specifically to each respective website, while other sites simply aggregate active job openings from all other sites. So let’s don’t waste anymore time, here is the listing of the top job search engines on the web today;
- USAjobs.gov
- Employmentguide.com
- Jobs.oodle.com
- Tweetmyjobs.com
- Jobster.com
- LinkedIn.com
- Careerbuilder.com
- Craigslist.org
- Beyond.com
- Jobnewsusa.com
- Indeed.com
- Snagajob.com
- Jobserve.com
- Monster.com
So, that is the list of the best and top job search engines on the web today. And while this list is pretty comprehensive, there are really only a few of the sites that I would recommend that you spend a considerable amount of your time on. That’s because it is very important that you manage your time well and are as efficient as possible while job hunting. With that in mind here is the cream of the crop and the sites you should focus your time on; Careerbuilder.com, Craigslist.org, Monster.com.
And to narrow my choice down even further based on my own personal user experience, I would recommend Careerbuilder.com as the number one job search engine. What is so great about Careerbuilder is not only does it have the most up-to-date job openings compared to other job sites, it also has great job information resources which of course also includes letting you submit your resume and cover letter.
I also want to give you a heads up when you use the Craigslist.org job search engine. You must be careful when responding to a job ad in Craigslist because some of the jobs posted are bogus jobs. These are people who are simply just trying to obtain your personal information. If the ad does not post the employers name or contact info, then it is a scam.
You need to also be aware of job postings that aren’t actually job postings, but instead they are work at home job opportunities and or work at home scams. Now, there are a few work at home jobs out there that are legitimate, but please do your due diligence and research when pursing these types of jobs.
Also, make sure that you look at the job posting date when responding to an ad. Do not waste your time responding to a job ad that was posted 30 days ago for example. By that time the position has more than likely already been filled.
Lastly, be wary of job search engines that charge a fee. While most of these fee based job search web sites are legitimate e.g. theladders.com, others you need to do more research on.
So, this wraps up our listing of what we believe are the top job search engines on the web today. Hopefully this information that we provided for you will greatly assist you in your future employment search efforts.
