My Individual Opinions On Positions Within A Contact Centre
Call centres are a large source of employment in the UK, moreover they are a considerable source of employment across the entire globe. Most businesses recruit call centre staff to reply to phone calls on their behalf, whether it’s to advertise their products or assist their customers, you’d struggle to locate a large business that didn’t own or subcontract a call centre. When searching for New careers, call centres are frequently ignored, many people turn their nose up at such a role and to be honest, a lot of them perhaps have good reasons too. I’ve worked in a few different call centres and have possibly experienced both ends of the stick, it’s certainly not all terrible in these jobs and there are a number of opportunities for making New careers out of them.
The initial thing to bear in mind when searching for call centre jobs is for what reason you’re going into them. If you’re looking at Career ideas within the trade you need to be careful of where you apply, whereas if you’re just looking for temporary work, any place will usually do as you’re not going to stay long anyway. The majority of call centre jobs are horrible to begin with, if you’re only staying temporarily, you won’t have time to familiarise yourself with it, so no matter where you go, you’ll most likely loathe it. However, if you want to try and advance within these Careers, then you’ve got a fair bit studying to do. Ideally you want to locate and chat to people who are employed in call centres, because a number of places are very inadequately managed and unless you fit in as the manager’s personal favourite, you almost certainly won’t ever obtain a promotion. Unfortunately I’ve encountered it all in recent years and have even been on the receiving end of it, in one of my positions I was in high standing for obtaining a supervisor position; that is naturally until my manager resigned and I was put with a new manager who had no concern for anyone but a tight group of friends.
So yes, it’s necessary that you do your homework before getting into something long-term within a call centre. Ensure the company is decent and treats its employees well. We then continue onto finding out what it is you’d be supporting on the phones. Are you trying to sell something? Or perhaps you are assisting the technical help side of a product. No matter what it is, you can research how well known and successful it is and how trustworthy it is. There’s nothing worse than taking call after call, nonstop, each day, because the product you assist is so unreliable and the customers are never satisfied. These Careers could be easily cut short in such circumstances because you’ll wear yourself out. If you do locate a decent company to work for however, call centre work can actually become quite pleasant. It’s always nice to assist a friendly customer and it makes it even more rewarding when you’re properly thanked. When it goes well in these situations, you can then surely look at the Career ideas available, usually starting off by moving into a supervisor or manager role.
