How to Create Student Resume Objectives Quickly

The best entry level resume objectives are short and to-the-point statements that can tell the employer what exactly you want and what value can you bring to the company. Because they have to go thorough hundreds of resumes, employers usually only scan each resume at a lightning speed: this is when they decide whether to read it or not. A good resume objective has the role of grabbing the employers’ attention in those few seconds.

Very often employers are complaining because entry level resume objectives tend to be too vague. This is because youngsters looking for an entry level position usually formulate generic objectives such as “Position with a progressive organization that will fully utilize my talents and skills”. The problem with this objective is that it doesn’t tell anything about what they are really looking for.

A good resume objective is always a very clear and concise statement. There are resume-writing websites that advice those who are applying to entry level positions not to use an objective because it can be limiting. Those who say this obviously don’t have a clear picture about the job market these days. Open to relocation.”, “Electrical engineering position in the silicon chip industry in California.”, “Sales position at a retail company in Portland”, “Staff accountant position in the public accounting field in the San Francisco area.” or “An entry level marketing position with a new media company. Open to relocation.”

The main focus of an entry level resume should be the resume objective. The reason for this is that entry level positions are usually filled with people who have little or no experience in the field. Therefore no hiring officer will expect to find much relevant experience in an entry level resume. So they are looking for somebody who has a specific goal and seems to have a good learning potential.
